Guided Fly Fishing Trips Near Missoula
Staying in Missoula, down the Bitterroot Valley, or anywhere in western Montana? The Bitterroot, Blackfoot, and Clark Fork are all within minutes of downtown, and most trips meet right at the shop.
THE WATER IS RIGHT HERE
Three Trout Rivers Within Minutes of Missoula
Most guided fly fishing trips in Montana start with a long drive. Ours do not. The Clark Fork runs right through downtown Missoula. The Bitterroot is minutes south of town, and the Blackfoot is minutes to the northeast. About ninety percent of our trips run on those three rivers, which means you spend your day on the water instead of in the truck.
Farther out, Rock Creek sits about 25 miles southeast of town, mostly a do-it-yourself wade creek with a few guided wade trips on the upper section. The Missouri near Craig is about two hours away, a famous tailwater that a few of our guides fish in the spring and that we can arrange by request.
If you are staying in Missoula proper, you are close to all of it. The same goes for the Bitterroot Valley towns of Lolo, Florence, Stevensville, and Hamilton, the Blackfoot side toward Bonner and Ovando, and west toward Superior and St. Regis. From any of them, the meeting spot and the river are an easy drive.
Clark Fork
Right through downtown. Big water, big fish, nearly year-round.
Bitterroot
Minutes south. Dry fly water that fishes like a small stream.
Blackfoot
Minutes northeast. Canyon rafting and the famous Salmonfly hatch.
HOW A DAY WORKS
Meet at the Shop, Fish the Best Water That Day
Most trips meet at the Missoulian Angler Fly Shop at 802 South Higgins Avenue in downtown Missoula, an easy spot to find. If it is easier, we can also pick you up at your hotel or wherever you are staying. From there your guide takes it. You do not need to know which river to fish or where to put in. You pick your trip and your dates, and your guide picks the river that is fishing best that day, based on flows, water color, and what is hatching.
Everything you need to fish is included: the boat, rods, reels, flies, leaders, and tackle, plus lunch on full days and snacks on half days. Bring your Montana fishing license, clothes for the weather, sunglasses, and sunscreen. That is it.
Half days run four to five hours. Full days run about eight, with a streamside lunch. Either way you are back in town with the evening ahead of you.

COMING FROM OUT OF STATE
Fly In, Fish the Next Morning
Missoula Montana Airport (MSO) is a short drive from downtown, so you can land, check in, and be on the river the next morning. A rental car is handy for getting around town, but it is not required: many Missoula hotels run airport shuttles, and we can pick you up at your lodging for your trip. If you can, fly in the day before your trip so a delayed flight never costs you a day on the water.
Summer dates book out months ahead. If your trip is tied to set dates, get on the calendar as early as you can, and we will do the rest.
You Pick the Dates. We Pick the River.
Call (406) 728-4308 or book online. We respond within 24 hours, and a $150 deposit holds your date, fully refundable 30 days out.
